Willie Andrew Estes, 86, a resident of Midland City, AL, passed away Tuesday, January 6, 2015 at Elmore Community Hospital in Wetumpka, AL.


Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, January 10, 2015 at Sunset Funeral Home with Bro. Charles Metcalf officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Park with Robert Byrd directing. The family will receive friends from 10-11:00 a.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.


Mr. Estes was born March 30, 1928 in Eclectic, AL and lived the early part of his life there. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy. He moved to Dothan in 1973 where he was employed as an electrician for 55 years with IBEW until his retirement in 1990. He was an avid Alabama Fan and loved stock car racing. Mr. Estes was preceded in death by his wife Mary Edna Estes, and his parents Loyd Alton and Eunice Veni Estes.


Survivors include his daughter Joni (Johnny) Smith; grandchildren, Drew Smith (fiancé Amanda Brunson) and Raye (Mike) Oster; great-grandchildren, Chase, Gabby, Drew, and Keagan; a brother Leon Estes; sisters, Wanda (Ken) Fisher, Martha (Bruce) Smith, and Peggy (Jimmy) Jones; a sister-in-law, Louise Phillips; several nieces and nephews.
