WYLLETTE  BROXTON  GAMBLE



HEADLAND. . .Wyllette Broxton Gamble, a resident of Headland, died late Tuesday night, May 6, 2014, in Westside Terrace in Dothan. She was 89.



            Graveside services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Saturday, May 10, 2014, in the Gardens of Memory, between Headland and Dothan, with Reverend Norman C. Simmons officiating. Holman-Headland Mortuary is in charge of arrangements. The family will receive friends from 12:30 until 1:45 P.M. Saturday at the mortuary.



            Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.



            Mrs. Gamble was a native of Headland but moved with her family to Miami, Florida and later to Alexandria, Virginia as a child. She lived in Dothan several years before returning to Headland where she lived most of her adult lifetime. Mrs. Gamble was a member of the First Baptist Church of Headland and was a former member of the Mt. Gilead Baptist Church in Dothan. She was retired as a secretary with Civil Service at Ft. Rucker. After her retirement, Mrs. Gamble served as a volunteer in the office of the First Baptist Church in Headland. She was preceded in death by her parents, Willie Morgan Broxton and Vera Mae Wiggins Broxton, her husband, Roy Travis Gamble, a son, Kenneth Gamble, and a daughter, Shirley Ann Gamble Lamb.



            Surviving relatives include two daughters, Marsha Gamble Elliott; and Vera Gamble Carr (Danny), all of Headland; a son, Stephen Roy Gamble (Marilyn), Laurens, SC; a sister, Kathy Folsom (Young), Dothan; a special friend, who was like a son, Denny McKinnon, Dothan; thirteen grandchildren, Tracie Whitehead (Wesley), Adam Gamble, Greg Anderson (Kimmie), Lisa Gamble (Fiance’, Ed Butler), Tammy Gamble, Travis Gamble (Cheryl), Stephanie Morse (Jessie), Stephen Roy Gamble (Fiancee’, Jami), Kenny Gamble, Michele Elliott (Shawn), Mark Elliott, Jessica Carr and Courtney Carr; seventeen great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.



            Serving as active pallbearers will be the grandsons.
