On  June 2, 2015, at 2:35pm, Zona Gail Kelly Zbinden, went to heaven to be with her Lord. Her family was at her bedside. We ask that you rejoice with us in the end of her suffering with dementia and Parkinson's disease. She is happy, laughing and running up the streets of gold surrounded by those that have gone before her.

Zona was born in Henry County, Alabama in 1937, the daughter of Gladys and C.A. Kelly.  She graduated from Dothan High School in 1956, and then later Valdosta State College in 1988.  She married the Rev. Bob Zbinden in 1956 and served as a pastor's wife in Kentucky and Georgia. She also worked as an elementary teacher in Georgia five years prior to her and her husband's appointment overseas.   They both served six years with the International Mission Board of the Southern Baptist Convention at the International Baptist Church of Budapest, Hungary, an English speaking congregation, retiring in 1999 and moving back to Dothan.

She leaves a husband and four children: Melanie Zbinden of Dothan, Zack Zbinden (Karen) of Crozier, VA, Kelly Zbinden (Jamie) of Chiangmai, Thailand, and Mary Beth Zbinden Stripling of Quitman, GA;  two sisters and a brother: Brenda Phillips of Headland, Shelia (Ron) Battles of Dothan, and Fred (Charlotte) Kelly of Alpharetta, GA; and nine grandchildren: Benjamin Stripling, 2nd Lt. Maxwell Zbinden, Malia,  C. J., Savannah, Zette, Noah, Sage, and Luke Zbinden.

This Saturday, June 6, the family will receive visitors from 10:00 - 11:45 A.M. at Heritage Baptist Church, 1951 Westgate Parkway, Dothan, AL.  A memorial service will be held at the church at 12 noon.

We would ask that those who wish to celebrate Zona Zbinden's passing with a gift of flowers, please consider sending a gift to support Christian missionary work in Thailand instead.  For those who are tech savvy use the following link--- https://netcommunity.imb.org/ToTheMinistry.   When asked for additional information or a field person's name type "For the ministry in Thailand in memory of Zona Zbinden" .   For those who like old fashioned ways, mail a check and write a note saying "For the Ministry In Thailand in memory of Zona Zbinden" to:
