“The Panther Cancer Killers” from Wicksburg High School will have a team participating in this year’s Houston County Relay for Life walk. The walk is set for May 4th at the Houston County Farm Center. Relay for Life is a life-changing event that helps communities across the globe celebrate the lives of those who have battled cancer, remember loved ones lost, and fight back against the disease.

At the Relay for Life event, participants share in a special luminaria ceremony to remember those individuals who have been affected by cancer. Simple white luminaria bags are transformed and laminated after dark. Each bag is personalized in memory or in honor of someone’s life that has been forever altered by cancer.

Ifyou would like to order luminarias, you may do so through Wicksburg’s Panther Cancer Killers team. You may send your order to the school, and student members of the team will decorate the bags for you. Each luminaria is sold for a $5 donation. Luminaria bags will be placed around the track and lit at 9 pm the Friday night of Relay.

Orders and Donations may be given to the school office or mailed to Mrs. Angela Brockman at Wicksburg High School, 1172 S St Hwy 123, Newton, AL 36352. Cash is accepted or you may make your checks payable to the American Cancer Society. Orders must be received by Thursday, May 3.
