colin had a special night!! colin recieved a special award called joey tillis sportmanship award..colin was the first pla yer to receive this award and i will tell you what the president of ashford sports youth says.... "May i please turn your attention to the 50 yards line... houston county pla yers and ashford pla yers lin.ed up at 50 yards line.... Today is a histroric day for the southeast alabama peewee football conf. and the southeast alabama football officials. Today we will be awarding the first ever Joey Tillis indiviual sportsmanship award. This year we will have a team award for all age groups, however there can only be one individual award, Joey Tillis was a former comminsoner, coach, president, and head of officials . He believed sportsmanship was the greatest thing we could have in this game. It shows the true character of a person and lets everyone know how great that person is. Dignity and respect comes along with this award. We lost Joey earlier this year but we have not forgotten his legacy and dedication to this league.It is because of his vision we are where we are today. Standing at midfield is Kaci Harrel (president of ashford) and also kevin hawkins (head of officals) who will be awarding this award to a pla yer here today. Kevin Hawkins said that the winner of this award is a great inspiration to all and a great football pla yer . This person has played 6 years at ashford and has faced many challenges and has overcome all. A direct quote from kevin is that "if i had a kid playing this game i would wish he has half the heart and courage this person has showed". Ladies and gentlemen witih great pleasure I announce the winner of the first ever Joey Tillis sportsmanship award to ashford own Colin Strickland!!!!! Colin is a great pla yer adn an a great team mate to all. colin has never had a foul called against him nor has he ever done anything bad to harm any other pla yer. colin has played all these years with a disability that many would have used as an excuse not to play Colin is deaf but he has overcame his disability to make it a great abilty.He embodies the true meaning of being a great football pla yer. He is the first to shake the other teams hand and the first to help anyone off the ground. He does not know defeat only that hes having fun. as a special surprise kevin will be giving coiln his first penalty flag today which is signed by the officials and it will hopefully remind him to always do his best and never let anyone tell him he cant thank you and contratulations coiln strickland .
