Cottonwood Bears To Host Excel Panthers In Fall Jam Game

The Cottonwood Bears will host the 3A Excel Panthers on Friday night, August 22nd in the Fall Jam Game. Game time is set for 7 p.m. The Bears and the Panthers met in the 1990 and 1991 playoffs.During those two yearsthe Bears reached the state finals and semi-finals.Having missed the playoffs in 2011 and 2012, the Bears returned to post season last year and were defeated byOakman in the first round. This year the Bears have a seasoned team led by the Wiregrass Area's passingleader for the past two years in quarterback,Cory Gill. Head Coach Toby Greene enters his eighth year at the helm of the Bears. On behalf of the Administration, Facultyand students, he encourages everyone in the Cottonwood community to come to the Fall Jam Game Friday week, August 22nd at7 p.m.and show your support for the Bears. We are looking for another great year in the Bears Den, which is also commonly referredto sometimes as the Dawg Pound. We wish all area teams great success in 2014.
