Headland defeats Ashford in Area Softball Play

The Headland Lady Rams softball team improved to 11-0 on the season with a 12-2 area victory over the Ashford Lady Yellow Jackets this evening in Headland. Katie-Beth Drew was the winning pitcher, going all 5 innings, striking out 7 batters. Brianna Skipper led Headland offensively, going 3 for 3 with 3 doubles, 3 RBI's and 2 runs scored. Jaycie Walker was 2 for 3 with a 3-run homer and 2 runs scored. Jordan Watson was 3 for 4 with a double, stolen ba se, and 2 runs scored. Caroline Singleton was 3 for 3 with 2 RBI's, a stolen ba se and a run scored. Drew was 2 for 2 with 3 runs scored and a stolen ba se. Desiree Taylor had a bunt single and a run scored. Claire Bradshaw had a single, 2 RBI's and a run scored. Chelsi Nowell has a single and a stolen ba se and Luuren Buchan drove in a run with a sacrifice fly. Headland next plays at Slocomb in the first round of the WAC Tournament on Thursday, April 12th at 4:00 p.m.
