Headland Junior Varsity Softball Splits with Ashford

The Headland Lady Rams J.V. split a double header with Ashford tonight in Headland. In the game one, Headland overcame a 6-2 deficit to take a thrilling 7-6 victory in extra innings as Hayden Littlefield scored on a game winning single by Diamond Townsend. The Lady Rams were led on the mound by Lauren Buchan, who went the distance for the victory, striking out 7 batters. At the plate Buchan also added 2 doubles. Adding offensive punch were Townsend, Allison Nolan and Emmie Burke with 2 singles each. Courtney Cureton chipped in with 2 singles, a walk, and one caught stealing.In the second contest, Ashford jumped out to a 8-0 lead early on a combination of timely hitting, Headland errors, and stolen ba ses. Headland pitcher, Pamela Hatfield, took the loss but pitched much better than the score indicated. The final score of game two was 15-4, but Headland played valiantly late. At the plate, Diamond Townsend had a home-run. Ciarra Sullivan, Hatfield, Allison Nolan & Kara May had singles.
