Houston County Public Schools Miss State Football Playoffs

This season we experienced an unusual happening as far as Postseason. Rehobeth in 5A, Ashford in 4A, Cottonwood, Wicksburg and Houston County in 2A all missed postseason. The area was represented by Dothan High School 6a, Houston Academy and Providence Christian in 2A. Everyone knows those three teams were eliminated in the first round. The Bears of Cottonwood were unbeaten in 2010 and reached quarterfinals in Class 2A. This year, of the 8 schools mentioned, the Bears had the worst record of those eight teams. The Bears took a big hit with graduation and also had to deal with low numbers, as well as playing "young men" in 2011. Here's wishing the likes of Geneva County, Barbour County, Eufaula and Elba success as they advance to round 2 of the playoffs.... Safe travels for those on the road.
