DOTHAN: This evening at 6:15 PM members of Dothan Police 911 and Houston County Sheriff 911 Dispatchers came together for a time of prayer for one of their dispatchers who lost her life to COVID.
A former 911 Dispatcher with Houston County Sheriff Department 911 and then Dothan Police 911, Michelle Holman had more than 15 years of combined service as 911 Dispatcher.
On August 17 Ms. Holman was admitted to the hospital. On Saturday evening Ms. Holman passed away.
The 911 staff's had planned on a prayer vigil at the hospital for tonight while Ms. Holman was in the hospital. With her passing away Saturday night they wanted to still have a time of prayer giving thanks for the years they all had the pleasure to work with Ms. Holman and to remember her family in prayer.
In attendance tonight were a lot of the 911 Dispatchers not only from Dothan and Houston County but from neighboring 911 Centers. One I did see from another 911 Center was Paula Simmons, Ozark-Dale County 911 Director. Dothan Police Chief Will Benny, Dothan Fire Chief Larry Williams, Houston County Sheriff Donald Valenza, Houston County Commissioner D-2 Doug Sinquefield, Dothan Mayor Mark Saliba, Dothan Commissioner John Ferguson, Dothan Commissioner Elect Bradley Bedwell, Dothan Commissioner Candidate and Law Enforcement Officer Phillip Kirksey were some in attendance.
The live stream on RSN lost connection right after it started and had to restart so a little at the beginning we do not have. One of the primary purpose of carrying it was to allow the other 911 staff who was on duty to be able to watch it while still carrying on 911 duties.
