08:32 AM. FIREARM ASSAULT MURDER In Houston County

TAYLOR:     Houston County Sheriff 911 dispatched Deputies and Pilcher Ambulance to the 300 block of Sunrise Drive around 3:00 AM to a firearm assault.


Within two minutes of the call being dispatched Houston County Sheriff Night Shift Supervisors Sgt. Adam Zey and Corporal Josh Harper were on the scene.


The Houston County Sheriff Deputies made entry and found a male subject deceased on the scene.


Both Sgt. Zey and Cpl. Harper have been Criminal Investigators with Houston County Sheriff Department before becoming night shift patrol supervisors. The deputies along with Houston County Sheriff 911 dispatchers were quick in gathering information of possible suspect and that information was quickly broadcast to other agencies.


Within a hour or so of the firearm assault law enforcement has a suspect in custody.


Houston County Deputy Coroner David Parrish responded to the scene. The body will be transported to Montgomery for examination by the Alabama Department of Forensic Sciences.


Houston County Sheriff Major Bill Rafferty was on the scene along with Houston County Sheriff Criminal Investigators.


Houston County Sheriff Donald Valenza praised the Sheriff 911 staff along with Houston County Sheriff Deputies for their quick and rapid response to the scene. Sheriff Valenza also praised the Deputies and 911 staff for the immediate information of possible suspect and getting the information broadcast to other agencies.


The Sheriff Department is not releasing many details at this time. This is still an ongoing investigation at this time. More information will be released as all of the investigation is concluded.
