DOTHAN: Dothan Police, Dothan Fire and Pilcher's Ambulance were dispatched to a firearm assault in the 3300 block of South Oates. Dispatch advised all responding units the shooting was accidental.
Dothan Police Cpl. Blake McCasllister was one of the first officers on scene advising the victim was up walking around.
According to the victim the firearm fell out of the vehicle when he exited the vehicle and the gun went off possibly striking the victim. No foul play was involved. The incident occurred in the parking lot of Southside Wal-Mart.
Again the this was accidental and not intentional. Dothan Police are investigating.
The victim was transported to the hospital non-emergency by Pilcher Ambulance.
