HENRY COUNTY: Tonight Eric Blakenship was elected as the Republican nominee for Henry County Sheriff.
When Incumbent Henry County Sheriff Will Maddox made the decision not to seek re-election, four people joined in the race for Sheriff.
Three made the decision to seek election on the Repubican ballot and one on the Democratic Ballot.
On May 24th Eric Blankenship, Joshua Moore and Jay Henry all were on the ballot in the primary race as the Republican nominee. The registered voters did not select Jay Henry so he was out of the race. Neither Blankenship or Moore received 50% plus 1 so they had to face each other in a run off election which was held tonight.
The registered voters of Henry County elected Eric Blankenship as the Republican nominee for Henry County Sheriff.
Noel Vanlandingham qualified to seek election as Henry County Sheriff on the Democratic ballot. Vanlandingham was unopposed and not on the ballot in the primary.
On November 8 both Republican Nominee Eric Blankenship and Democratic Nominee Noel Vanlandingham will face each other to become the next Henry County Sheriff.
For Blankenship it will be his third election process in this quest to be Sheriff. Having to go through the primary, then run off and then general election. Vanlandingham has been able to coast until time to begin the quest for the November race.
So the race for Sheriff of Henry County did not end tonight. Steps 1 and 2 - completed. Step 3 and final journey begins and ends November 8.
