BARBOUR COUNTY:    10:12 PM    ALEA - Troopers dispatched ALEA Trooper from Level Plains to Barbour County to a single vehicle accident with no injuries in Barbour County.

Did not catch the exact road, but like 5 Mile Road and something.

There was another ALEA - Trooper south of Abbeville who told ALEA Dispatch they would catch the wreck in Barbour County.

There are no injuries.

They have been working the ALEA - Troopers hard tonight. Especially Trooper Spencer Adkinson. She herself has worked now two on Highway 84 and one on Third Avenue in the rain, and now one on Avon Road.

There is also a point to this for the Colonel of ALEA, Jimmy Helms. I will make that point to him in a email. But a point he needs to get into that head of his that he does not understand.

Part of the point is as follows:

In Alabama, there are 52,419 square miles.

In Alabama, there are 67 counties.

In Alabama, there are 460 incorporated municipalities, 291 towns, 169 cities.  All of these municipalities, towns and cities make up only 9.6% square miles of the entire State of Alabama. That is the Gordon's to Huntsville. They have 60.4% of the populuation of the state.

So that means 90.4% of the time you are driving in Alabama you are outside the municipality.

Which means your life is in the hands of Volunteer Fire and possible volunteer EMS.

There are about 450 ALEA - Troopers in Alabama. Divided by 67 counties that is 6 ALEA Troopers per county for 24/7/365 coverage.

Take Henry County Alabama for example:  568 square miles; Headland is 30.34 square miles, Newville 4.02 square miles, Abbeville is 15.58 square miles, Haleburg is 3.38 square miles. Only law enforcement is Headland and Abbeville with part time in Newville. Only one ambulance most of the time in Abbeville,, two ambulances in Headland and when they have a crew ambulance in Haleburg.

But primary EMS is Headland and Abbeville, three ambulances.

Of the 568 square miles, 45.92 of Henry County has full time law enforcement with 522.08 square miles the responsibility of Henry County Sheriff Department. So 91% of the county has to be handled by the Henry County Sheriff Department.

If Abbeville Rescue is busy, and Haleburg does not have a crew, that means Headland has to respond to the far north end of Henry County.

And raise your hand, Colonel Helms, if you can tell me what hospital is in Henry County?

So if the goal is to save lives, please get your HEAD OUT FROM BETWEEN THE CHEEKS OF YOUR TWO BUTTOCKS!!! ALEA COLONEL JIMMY HELMS
