HOUSTON COUNTY: 9:58 PM. Houston County Sheriff 911 dispatched a two vehicle motor vehicle accident on Highway 84 West and Bay Springs Road.
Responding to the scene, Bay Springs Volunteer Fire Department, Wicksburg EMS, Houston County Sheriff Deputies, ALEA - Troopers and Dothan-Houston County Emergency Management Director Chris Judah.
The first emergency unit arriving on the scene gave what is referred to as a BIR, “ Brief Incident Report”. The report was two vehicles, head on, six persons to include children involved.
Bay Springs Volunteer Fire gave the BIR and began checking patients. Wicksburg EMS started the mass casualty plan and rolling additional ambulances.
Six or more patients is considered a mass casualty incident.
Within a short few minutes Bay Springs Volunteer Fire gave additional information that patients were ambulatory ( up and walking ) and injuries were minor. The additional responding ambulances were cancelled.
ALEA - Troopers are in charge of the accident investigation.
