DOTHAN: At 10:40 PM Dothan 911 dispatched a serious critical motor vehicle accident at South Saint Andrews and Cottonwood Road. The accident involved a moped and a motor vehicle.
Dothan Fire Engine 2 ( Lakewood ) and Dothan Fire Engine 4 ( Southside ) responded to the scene.
The driver of the moped was on the hood of the car with the feet through the windshield. Dothan Fireman were working to use extreme care as they were removing her from the vehicle on a backboard.
The victim was removed from the wreckage and placed on the ground awaiting the arrival of Pilcher Ambulance.
The orginal call was dispatched at 10:40. Pilcher Ambulance arrived on the scene of the accident at 10:59 PM. At 11:06 PM Pilcher Ambulance and Dothan Fire Medics transported the patient under a trauma alert to a Dothan hospital.
Dothan Police conducted a field sobriety test on the driver of the vehicle. The driver failed the field sobriety test. He has been arrested for DUI and will be transported to Dothan City Jail where an official sobriety test will be conducted on a machine. Officers could get a search warrant for a blood test if the driver refuses.
According to eye witness accounts the driver of the car turned into the path of the moped.
Dothan Police are in charge of the investigation of the accident.
