DOTHAN: DOTHAN 911 received calls to 911 of a subject jumping on the back of a truck after it stopped at traffic lights.
Dothan 911 got several calls about the subject. Dothan Police Officers were in the area of East Main and Ross Clark Circle to Cliff Road to Plant Street looking for the subject.
A Dothan Police Officer spotted the subject on East Main Street at Plant. The subject refused to stop and obey the officers commands. The subject kept walking.
The officer then reported the subject had a box cutter held to his neck. To save the man from inflicting life threatening injuries to himself the Dothan Police Officer deployed the taser on the subject in order to get the box cutter away and the subject not hurt himself or place the officer in a situation where deadly physical force would be required.
Multiple Dothan Police Officers responded, emergency, to the Dothan Officer when he said over the radio the subject had a box cutter to his neck.
After deployment of the taser Dothan Fire and Pilcher Ambulance were requested and responded.
If the Dothan Police Officer had not deployed the taser the subject would have hurt himself bad.
