HOUSTON COUNTY - WICKSBURG: At 10:24 AM Houston County Sheriff 911 dispatched Wicksburg Volunteer Fire to Highway 84 at Panther Road to a vehicle on fire.
Reports to Houston County Sheriff 911 a white vehicle was fully engulfed in fire.
When Wicksburg Fire arrived the fire had spread from the vehicle into the grass in the median and was burning rapidly. The wind today makes outside burning dangerous and the fires spread rapidly.
Wicksburg Fire brush truck was quick on the scene. Houston County Sheriff Deputies and ALEA - Troopers blocked Highway 84, one lane of traffic while the fire units fought the fire.
Wicksburg dispatched their water tanker truck. This is a large truck which carries a large supply of water. Long time serving fireman Baxter Etheridge brought the water tanker to the fire. At one time there was discussion to sell the water tanker. Where Wicksburg Fire sits they respond to Geneva County and Dale County a lot in areas where water supply is not available. Also places in Houston County no water is available.
Wicksburg Volunteer EMS unit was dispatched to the scene. A couple of people with complaints of smoke inhalation and could not breath.
