HOUSTON COUNTY - COTTONWOOD: 10:21 AM Houston County 911 dispatched a motor vehicle accident with multiple injuries, Cottonwood Road and County Road 33 at Union Hill Baptist Church.
The initial reports were four vehicles. When emergency units reached the scene there were two vehicles with five injuries.
Some of the Lovetown Volunteer Fire Department attend Union Hill Baptist Church and were on the scene shortly after hearing the impact. The services of church were just beginning. Union Hill Baptist Church, some of the members and Deacons rushed to the wreckage to assist until emergency units arrived.
Multiple Houston County Sheriff Deputies, Lovetown Volunteer Fire Department, Cottonwood Volunteer Fire Department, and Hodgesville Volunteer Fire Department responded.
Cottonwood Rescue was primary EMS and mutual aid assistance was called for. Ashford Rescue dispatched two ambulances, Pilcher Ambulance dispatched two ambulances and Dothan Fire Department dispatched a Paramedic Fire Engine Company from Station 4 ( Southside ), along with Battalion Chief Ash.
There were a total of 5 patients. Two patients were transported trauma alert to a Dothan hospital. Three more patients were transported, one non emergency to a Dothan hospital.
ALEA - Trooper Goad is on the scene and in charge of the accident investigation.
This morning was an example of how quickly emergency units get to rolling and on the scene caring for patients. Everyone working as a team, as one for what is best for the patient.
It begins in the 911 Center which next week is Telecommunications week where we feature those where it all begins, taking the 911 call and getting resources rolling.
