DOTHAN: 10:57 AM Dothan 911 dispatched Dothan Police to a theft in progress.
The call location was 2890 Ross Clark Circle at Bauman Drive, Dollar General.
The person reporting to 911 stated a white female occupying a gray Toyota Tundra was committing theft in the Dollar General Store.
On the arrival of Dothan Police the suspect fled on foot and Dothan Police went in pursuit on foot. After a brief chase at 11:11 AM Dothan Police Patrol Division had the suspect in custody.
Dothan Police requested Dothan Fire dispatched to check a patient out.
WIREGRASS PUBLIC SAFETY TRAINING CENTER
One of the requirements for law enforcement and fire are to be physically fit. While some of the top might not be as physically fit as the ones in patrol, they have a $ 22 million dollar facility constructed by the Wiregrass Foundation. This facility is set up to train fire - police and EMS on how to handle different situations. But the facility also houses a state of the art physical fitness training center.
The Law Enforcement Officers and Fire, daily, go to the Wiregrass Training facility to stay conditioned and physically fit. Therefore when someone runs from the law enforcement officer, there is a good chance that officer is in good enough physical condition to hang with the person running.
And in this situation today, Dothan Police chased the suspect down on foot.
