Last evening about 6:30 PM Dothan Police were dispatched to Marquis Drive as a firearm assault. After arrival of Dothan Police Officers it was quickly determined the call was not a firearm assault but a shooting into an occupied dwelling.

About 9:45 PM Dothan 911 received another call of a drive by shooting on Mercury Drive. A Dothan Police Patrol Officer was in the area and observed the suspect vehicle and a short pursuit took place.

Dothan Police took three subjects into custody.

As the Dothan Police Patrol Division and Criminal Investigators these subjects were identified as the ones alleged to be responsible for a firearm assault which occurred two weeks ago on Alexander Drive where a 12 year old child was struck by a bullet.

Chief Benny said these individuals are ones who appear to have no care for anyone or anyone’s lives.

More charges could be forthcoming on these individuals as the investigation continues.

Dothan Police Chief Will Benny said proactive policing works. There is a strategy in place and Chief Benny has been in contact with the City Manager, Mayor and Associate Commissioners. They are fully supportive, there is a plan being placed into affect.

These officers have done their job and now it is up to the District Attorney and Court system.

Chief Benny also said there is a partnership with the community. We have a very good working relationship with the community. People can call 334-793-7000 and CRIMESTOPPERS pays for some information.

There is a anti-snitching sentiment but it is not snitching it is protecting your community when you provide information which leads to the arrest of the person or persons responsible for crimes.
