DOTHAN:     11:47 AM   RSN received calls concerning alleged price gouging at the RACEWAY located at Ross Clark Circle and Prevatt Road.

The person reporting stated that cigarettes last week were almost $ 4.00 and today the same pack was $ 10.00.

RSN went to the Hop Inn and asked for the brand of cigarettes the person reporting told us. The price was $ 3.94. We did not buy them.

We then went to the RACEWAY at Prevatt and Ross Clark Circle. The price for the same cigarettes was $ 10.00. At that point RSN brought the camera out and started asking questions. The persons working ( not the usual lady but wo males ) said would have to ask management. They first said he was outside, then said he was at the other store but could not say what store.

According to some calls from regular customers the males are referring the regular customers to the store on Cottonwood Road just outside Ross Clark Circle. The prices are reported to be normal there.

There is a sign for a franchise opportunity to take over that store. Reports are the current managers are leaving at the end of June. But they have apparently jacked the prices up.

In off the record discussions with law enforcement. business is a free enterprise. Unless there is a National Emergency and business raises their prices, routine business days that is up to the individual business.

Also reports beer is $ 32.00 a case where it is less at other places.

USE CAUTION when purchasing from RACEWAY, Ross Clark Circle and Prevatt Road until management changes.
