DOTHAN: 1:21 AM Dothan Police from the 911 Center to Patrol Division, in team work with rapid deployment of information apprehends a burglary suspect.
The location of the burglary was Denton Road outside Ross Clark Circle at the gas station/store just outside Ross Clark Circle intersection.
When the primary unit arrives he advises this is a confirmed commercial burglary. The window to the plate glass in the door was busted out.
The primary unit reported a vehicle leaving the area as he arrived.
A Dothan Police Officer spotted a vehicle on Murray Road approaching Headland Avenue coming from the Denton Road area.
When the Dothan Police Officer activated his blue lights the suspect vehicle was not immediately stopping. When the suspect vehicle crossed Ross Clark Circle the driver pulled in at the station at Ross Clark Circle and Headland Avenue.
For a few minutes the Dothan Officer was alone on the traffic stop.
Patrol Shift Commander Lt. Chris Watson was the first unit to the lone officer on the traffic stop.
When the officer made the traffic stop he gave the license plate number and reported a black Chevrolet Traverse. When the 911 Center reported back to the patrol unit they advised this was a switched tag.
The officers on the scene reported what was taken from the store. The officers with the suspect vehicle reported the merchandise described missing is merchandise they see in the suspect vehicle.
The suspect was taken into custody. Dothan Criminal Investigator was called out from his sleep to respond. The investigator responded to the store first.
TEAM WORK
The calls originate often times in the 911 Center. As this call originated there. The Dothan Police 911 Center dispatches officers and provides them the information to which is reported to the 911 Center.
Rapid deployment of information, rapid arrival of the primary patrol unit. Then rapid confirmation this is an actual burglary and units in the area. A vehicle in the area, the officer makes a traffic stop. Switched license plate. A look into the plain view of the vehicle for the items the unit on the scene reported were missing.
WHAM - BAM - CLICK - CLICK - you my friend are now in custody!!!
GOOD DEAL
Lt. Chris Watson was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant recently. He assumed command of the Patrol Division of the Dothan Police Department. He is in charge of the entire City of Dothan law enforcement and communications center during the night, certain days of the week.
This squad, no reflection of others, is a working squad. They hit the streets when the shift begins and work hard throughout the night.
And Lt. Chris Watson is on the streets busting his buttocks along with the men and women on duty on the streets and in the 911 Center.
A Patrol Shift Lieutenant is like the Police Chief. He is the "man or woman" who is in charge. The Patrol Shift Lieutenant is the person responsible and in charge of his shift.
Lt. Watson is doing a great job as are the men and women in 911 and Patrol Division.
