KINSEY:     On Wednesday Kinsey Police Chief Tim Hurd’s flanked by Kinsey Police Sergeant Jim Mock, held a press conference concerning a drive by shooting that occurred on Monday.

On Monday evening Houston County Sheriff 911 dispatched Kinsey Police, Houston County Sheriff Deputies and Headland Fire - EMS were dispatched the Kinsey to a drive by shooting.

Headland EMS transported a couple of people injured.

Kinsey Police Sergeant Jim Mock began the investigation. That investigation led him into Webb where he contacted Webb Police Chief Jim Holley. Kinsey Police Sgt. Mock and Chief Holley located the suspect(s).

As the investigation went forward three suspects were identified. On Tuesday Sgt. Mock made the arrest on three suspect(s) in the drive by shooting.

Chief Hurd showed the weapon used by the three that were arrested. The weapon looks like an assault rifle to include a fold down stock.

Chief Hurd said it was actually a pellet rifle resembling a rifle such as a AR-15. If anyone had seen the weapon and the suspect(s) with it and were armed they would have returned fire and possibly killed the three minors.

And they would have been justified in returning fire and using deadly physical force.

Chief Hurd commended Sgt. Mock and Webb Police Chief Jimmy Holley in their diligence to identify the suspect(s) and make the arrests.

The weapon used sustained injuries to the victims even through a jacket. The back window of a vehicle parked at the residence was shattered by the pellet gun.

CHIEF HURD, MAYOR AND COUNCIL PURSUIT OF A GRANT.

Chief Hurd announced when he joined Kinsey Police Department that he and Mayor Reneau have completed applications for a grant.

Realizing the increase in crime and a lot of that has to do with firearms. The activity using guns has increased to include suicides.

The grant was written to help fight gun violence and the fact suicide is a permanent solution to a temporary problem.

Chief Hurd also showed in the back of his patrol vehicle some basketballs and soccer balls that as officers have time they will stop and interact with young people in the Kinsey community.
