DOTHAN: 1:23 PM RSN watched on Saturday and Sunday, it seems Dothan Fireman stationed on Westgate Parkway are staying at the station.
Unknown if all of the work has been completed.
Dothan Fire Station 3 has had a on-going issue with rats. Poison for the rats was put out by someone in the City of Dothan government. Those rats went off and died.
When you poison rats they do not die immediately but shortly there after. The dead rats began to decay and rot making the smell unbearable.
Contractors and Dothan General Services were forced into the station to remove all of the insulation and tile boards in the ceiling. On Friday the station looked like a ghost town.
As we observed Saturday and Sunday the equipment was returned to Station 3.
Westgate Fire Station is a eye sore at the entrance to Dothan's premier showcase, Westgate Parkway. Several years ago Dothan Fireman offered to repair the station and make it look good if the City of Dothan would pay for the materials.
Within a fire department who employs 175 people each one brings different talents. Some are extremely creative and possess talents in construction, painting, tile work and many others. That offer was refused. And as a result you have a ugly building at the most known fire station within the City of Dothan.
Probably over 35 years old the station needs a face lift and the outside to look great. And former City Manager Mike West would not allow the inside department talent to put their creativity to work to improve the station.
