PIKE COUNTY:     Pike County Sheriff Russell Thomas, Pike County Sheriff Deputies and Criminal Investigators, ALEA - State Bureau of Investigation, law enforcement officers from Montgomery and from Florida on the scene of a search.

Law Enforcement officers have gathered information that a young girl murdered ten (10 ) years ago was buried on this site.

A person is reported to have confessed to law enforcement that a girl was brought back from Florida about ten years ago and buried on this site.

Pike County Sheriff Russell Thomas, Pike County Sheriff Criminal Iinvestigators, ALEA - SBI, other out of state criminal investigators have investigated the information and at this point believe it is credible information.

The Law Enforcement officers have an excavator and delicately digging through the dirt for any remains that might be found.

Sheriff Thomas is limited on what information that can be released at this time.

Multiple agencies and officers are on the scene and investigating.

The scene is at Highway 231 and Pike County Road 3327.

Anyone with any information is urged to call the Pike County Sheriff Department.

Pike County Sheriff Russell Thomas said they have called the search for the missing persons from ten years ago for today. The search will resume tomorrow.

Sheriff Thomas said some information has changed but they do still believe a young female is buried near that location.

Sheriff Thomas, Pike County Criminal Investigators, ALEA - SBI, Montgomery Police Cadaver Dogs, agencies from Florida are committed to exhausting every lead possible to bring closure to a family.
