A Fort Walton Beach woman faces felony child neglect charges after she gave a 14-year old permission to drive a car. An Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office deputy spotted the teen driving nearly twice the legal speed limit in the area of Green Street and Clifford Street on October 12th around 2:10 p.m. and made a traffic stop.

The driver promptly told him she is 14 years old and has no driver’s license. She said she got permission from 31-year old Araceli Martinez Zamora to drive to a local laundry mat.

The girl also then drove to a restaurant on Beal Parkway to get food. Two children, ages 8 and 10, were passengers in the car. The deputy says the teen was clocked driving nearly 40 miles an hour in a 20 mile per hour zone.

Martinez-Zamora is charged with three counts of child neglect as well as permitting an unlicensed minor to drive.
