November 16th for the annual Ride for Turkeys! The ride is sponsored by the Dothan Area Cyclists in partnership with the great folks at The Joy FM. Proceeds go to our local Salvation Army Chapter who then distributes the turkeys in our community. All riders get a Ride for Turkeys T Shirt!
Also, this year, after the ride, DAC will be providing a lunch meal catered by Dickey’s BBQ. Menu includes Pork BBQ, Chicken, Potato Casserole, Coleslaw and Beans!
Registration will be the morning of the ride and starts from Bethel Baptist Church (3257 E. Cottonwood Road, Dothan) at 8:00 AM and we will roll promptly at 9:00 AM. That should get most riders returning around lunch time to chow down on BBQ. We won’t be riding out of the gym entrance this year at Bethel. We will be staging out of The Family Life Center which is on the West side of the Church facing Cottonwood Road. There is plenty of parking there.
Registration for the event is $20.00 per rider which will provide two turkeys and $10 for the 12-mile route. Cash and checks are accepted, make out all checks to “Dothan Area Cyclists”
There will be a 64-mile route (metric), a 44-mile route, and a 12-mile route. The routes are rider friendly with low traffic. There is a store stop in Cottonwood for the 44- and 64-mile routes. Since Brunson’s is closed, SAG will rotate through the groups with water and Gatorade in a cooler. Due to its short length, there are no stops planned for the 12-mile route.
