DOTHAN:     2:07 PM  Suspect Identified in Double Murder on Sunday Evening inside a Dothan residence on Fifth Avenue is now in custody.

On Sunday evening the women and men of Dothan 911 dispatched a firearm assault in the 200 block of Fifth Avenue. Dothan Police, Dothan Fire, Pilcher Ambulance and Houston County Sheriff Department responded. A lot of rapid activity and information coming into Dothan 911 both by the public and law enforcement officers.

Dothan Fire and Pilcher Ambulance were instructed to stage at a location near the scene but not at the scene until law enforcement cleared the residence and deemed safe for fire and EMS entry.

When Dothan Police made entry they found two females with multiple gunshot wounds. Dothan Fire and Pilcher were advised but instructed to continue to stage while officers conducted a search of the residence making sure safe. That search took seconds and Dothan Fire and Pilcher Ambulance were cleared into the scene.

Dothan Fire reported both females were deceased. Dothan Police identified the two deceased as 21 year old Jasmine Danielle Bean and 20 year old Ja'Lexius Lashon Wells, both of Dothan.

There were a number of people present at the time of the firearm assault who quickly fled. Dothan Police Chief Will Benny had most all Dothan Criminal Investigators out and on the investigation, Dothan Police Crime Scene unit and Dothan Police Patrol on the streets searching for possible suspects and evidence. Houston County Sheriff Donald Valenza had Sheriff Patrol Deputies on the streets assisting Dothan.

A suspect was identified. The suspect is a juvenile, reported to be age 14. Alabama Law prevents the release of juveniles, however, a 20th Judicial Circuit Court Judge or Houston County District Court Judge has ordered the suspect name to be released due to the safety of the citizens.

The suspect, identified as 14 year old Vincent Lamar Oliver, Jr., of Dothan was taken into custody earlier this afternoon. The 14 year old is being charged with Capital Murder. Capital Murder carried a sentence of death by lethal injection or life without the possibility of parole. However I think ( reasonably sure but not positive ) at age 14 the death penalty can not be applied so the only sentence, if convicted, is life without the possibility of parole.
