DOTHAN: At about 1:52 AM a Dothan Police Patrol Officer called in on the radio a firearm assault at Club Imani, 512 North Foster Street.
When the officer called in on the radio you could hear a lot of people in the background and a lot of disorderly activity.
All Dothan Police Officers on duty responded, Houston County Sheriff Deputies responded, and I believe that I heard some ALEA - Troopers on the scene.
Dothan Fire and Pilcher Ambulance responded. There was at least 100 people gathered in the area.
There is crime scene tape behind the Marathon ( Marthon has nothing to do with this crime ). Apparently the body of the person who received a gunshot wound to the head is in the area behind the Marathon to North Foster Street.
The law enforcement had their hands full in their attempts to calm the crowd, keep the crowd out of the crime scene, and separate spectators from witnesses.
As Dothan Fire and Pilcher Ambulance left they were called back to the scene to check a person found unconscious in a vehicle. Dothan Fire checked that person out but no one was transported.
The problems broke out on the Headland Avenue side of the crime scene which all of the law enforcement had to respond to. While handling that people were arguing and about to fight in the parking lot of the Marathon. Law Enforcement had to respond to that area.
At the time of this article ( 2:53 AM ) it appears law enforcement has the crime scene area under control. Dothan Police Criminal Investigators and Crime Scene Investigators are on the scene.
At the time of this writing no suspect is in custody. Dothan Police have broadcast a person of interest. But we do not release until law enforcement officials gives is the green light to do so.
Dothan Police are in charge of the investigation.
Tonight is an example of the agencies working together and supporting each other.
