ELBA: On Monday evening Coffee County 911 received a call for a motor vehicle accident. Elba Police, Elba Fire and Enterprise Rescue responded to the scene.
A vehicle that was occupied by one person was found. The vehicle had struck a house.
After removing the victim of the accident, 18 year old Jordan Marek, a student in Elba Schools, it was learned that he had been shot. RSN has not confirmed if known on the scene or after arrival at Medical Center Enterprise.
The investigation then transformed from a motor vehicle accident investigation to then a firearm assault investigation, and then a murder investigation.
Elba Police was the primary investigating agency. Elba Police then called in ALEA - State Bureau of Investigation to take over the investigation.
UNCONFIRMED by law enforcement, but according to sources, the victim, Jordan Marek, was being chased. Unconfirmed reports are he struck a guidewire for a utility pole. Unconfirmed reports are Marek exited the vehicle at which time people in another vehicle shot him.
UNCONFIRMED reports are Marek got back into his vehicle taking off and that is when he struck the house.
A detailed criminal investigation took place. Dothan Police, according to sources, got behind the suspect vehicle. After additional Dothan Police units got into a position a felony traffic stop around West Main and John D. Odom Road was made. Again specific details are not confirmed. The suspect was not in the vehicle.
Information led law enforcement to Dale County in attempting to locate the suspect. Unconfirmed, the location failed to turn up the suspect.
Later as the investigation continued the suspect was located. Arrested was 22 year old Terrance Green and he was booked into the Coffee County Jail on murder charges. More arrests are expected.
Why so many unconfirmed? ALEA - State Bureau of Investigation does not routinely release details of the investigation. That forces news to dig for themselves.
RSN has also been told that Elba area of Coffee County has been fighting some gang activity. Again, UNCONFIRMED information this firearm assault/murder was possibly a gang related shooting.
ALEA - State Bureau of Investigation continues their inv estigation.
