HOUSTON - GENEVA - DALE COUNTY:   Last evening many Wiregrass friends came to support Alabama District 29 Senator Donnie Chesteen.

A group of Donnie’s supporters came to him and said let’s have the old time politics fish fry and meet and group. The supporters got together 10 large grills and a organized system at the Houston County Farm Center, over 1,000 pounds of catfish, Ann of the Oyster Bar with 300 hot dogs.

Kicking off last night at 5 PM they all came together in a well organized operation cooking delicious catfish and serving over 300 hot dogs for people to come out to meet Donnie Chesteen and a time of friendly social. This was a free event for anyone who attended. 

Senator Chesteen and his family worked as hard as supporters getting ready for the event and setting it up. And afterwards in the clean up.

Estimate of somewhere between 1,600 and 2,000 people in attendance for the free catfish supper.

I wish that I had the names of everyone who worked to make this event a success. But a lot of hard work and organization. But a feeling of excitement of what politics once was. A time where hands met hands in handshakes, patting on the shoulder, genuine face to face conversations one on one with Donnie Chesteen. Not just a 30 second sound bite of an advertisement.

Donnie Chesteen work life has been in education and a football coach. Chesteen, a Republican, served in Alabama House of Representatives District 87 beginning in 2010.

When long time Alabama Senator District Senator Harri Anne Smith decided not to seek re-election then House Member Donnie Chesteen sought election as Alabama Senator District 29. That district serves Geneva, Houston and part of Dale County. Senator Chesteen serves in some key places in the Alabama Senate and works hard for District 29 as their Senator.

Senator Chesteen is approachable, honest in answering your questions and works to improve the State of Alabama and the wiregrass area.

Senator Chesteen will be on the November 8th ballot for re-election as Alabama Senator, District 29 for Houston, Geneva and parts of Dale County.

Senator Chesteen is supported by people, some are Republicans, some are Democrats and some are Independents. All parties come together supporting him.

THANK YOU to everyone who organized and worked to make a old time original political event come together. Where people get to meet the person they will be voting for, get food in their stomach, enjoy fellowship, fun and excitement.
