DOTHAN: 4:23 PM. DOTHAN 911 dispatched Dothan Police units to Catulpa Street at Moates Street to shots fired.
Reports a number of shots fired in the area. No one was injured.
The patrol shift today under is under the command of Lieutenant Rachel David. Multiple units along with a Criminal Investigator are on the scene and working to obtain information.
A SPECIAL WORD OF CAUTION.
Last week, I think Sunday, shots were fired on Kristie Road. When a Dothan Police patrol unit arrived in the area shots were fired at the officer. The officer nor his patrol unit were struck by the gunfire. About six to ten people were taken from the house. The home renters would not given permission to search.
Dothan Police Chief Will Benny, personally, responded to the scene. Chief Benny dispatched officers to a Judge’s home and obtained a search warrant. The Dothan Police SRT ( SWAT ) arrived. The SRT unit, with K-9’s made entry into the residence. They found drugs and weapons.
Chief Benny feels the good people of the neighborhood, of the City of Dothan, deserve to live a peaceful life free of this type of activity. Chief Benny will not tolerate this activity and when it occurs it will be met with police in force and dealt with. Chief Benny demands (1) treat people with respect, (2) officers be right, and (3) officers better tell the truth.
If the officer is wrong and it was a mistake, Chief Benny will attempt to work with the officer to correct the mistakes. But the officers know the Chief will support them but he better not have to keep correcting them over and over, especially on the same issue.
To The Community - Chief Benny will not tolerate this activity and the officers will be swift and you will never know the ACE card they will pull in order to stop this type of activity.
