HOUSTON - HENRY COUNTY: RSN reported a firearm assault victim was presented to Southeast Health last evening arriving by private auto. At the time of the reports we thought as did law enforcement the firearm assault occurred in Houston County.
As the investigation progressed early this morning Houston County Sheriff Deputies pursued a suspect vehicle into the area of Henry County Road 45. The suspect fled the vehicle.
Multiple law enforcement officers from Henry, Houston County Sheriff Department established a perimeter. The United States Marshall’ s and Ventress Correctoional responded to assist. Ventress Correctional has K-9 Tracking dogs.
The suspect was able to pierce the perimeter area and is still on the run.
As Criminal Investigators continued to put the pieces of the puzzle together, it has been determined the actual shooting crime scene is located in Henry County. The investigation is now centered in Henry County with both Henry County Sheriff Criminal Investigators and Houston County Sheriff Criminal Investigators working hand in hand.
HENRY COUNTY SHERIFF WILL MADDOX AND HENRY COUNTY SHERIFF CAPTAIN ERIC DUHAIME DOES NOT BELIEVE THE PUBLIC IS IN DANGER
As the criminal investigators continue to work around the clock, if at anytime Sheriff Maddox, Captain Duhaime or any investigators believe the public is in danger, you will be notified immediately.
This is an attempted murder investigation. Due to the investigation being ongoing and search for the suspect, very limited information is being released.
Sheriff Maddox and Captain Duhaime wants to Thank each and every agency involved and every agency involved. This is a joint investigative effort by Henry County Sheriff, Houston County Sheriff, United States Marshall’s Service, and Ventress Correctional Officers.
THANK YOU HENRY COUNTY PROBATE JUDGE, MEMBERS OF HENRY COUNTY COMMISSION AND HENRY COUNTY SHERIFF
This is the words of Rickey Stokes and not quoting Sheriff Maddox or Henry County Commissioners … beginning October 1 when the new budget is approved there was a promise by Chairman Maddox, if one dispatch the citizens of Henry County would see more deputies and increased salary packages. Henry County struggles needing more deputies and competitive salary packages.
Today was a clear example of the Henry County Sheriff Department resources being taxed to the max. All resources were being used today.
More officers and competitive pay being needed.
So thank you in advance Henry County Commissioners for the future fulfilling your promise and Sheriff Will Maddox for presentation of this need to the Henry County Commission.
