HOUSTON COUNTY: 4:19 PM Houston County Sheriff 911 dispatched a structure fire in the 5600 block of Lucy Grade Road.
The 5600 block of Lucy Grade Road runs between County Road 33 and County Road 55, south of Ashford.

HOUSTON COUNTY FIRE DEPARTMENTS
When fire calls come in it is a team effort. People from all walks of life respond and assist in fighting the fire. The all walks of life include businessmen, management of major corporations, a doctor, and those who work various jobs. Each willing to be a team member with the common goal of saving lives and property.
There is never enough good that I can say about these men and women who are willing to risk their lives and safety in service of others to save lives and property. I am lucky to know each of them and be supportive of them. The citizens, much less those in power, do not know what these men and women really do, and most of the officials ( I call them public servants not officials ) only give lip service and not real appreciation. Houston County Commissioners Doug Sinquefield and Curtis Harvey do appreciate and do more than just lip service.
But thanks to them for all they do.
WIREGRASS ELECTRIC
This week is LINEMAN'S APPRECIATION WEEK. Thanks to each of them for what they do. The electrical provider was Wiregrass Electric. As always they are prompt and responsive and were on the scene to cut the power and make the scene safe as the fireman fought the fire.
