DOTHAN: 6:00 PM Dothan 911 dispatched Police - Fire and EMS to a pedestrian struck by a motor vehicle. The accident location was South Appletree Street and Senn Street.
The information reported to 911 was a child who was unresponsive.
Dothan Fire Engine 1 ( Central ), Pilcher Ambulance, Battalion Chief Thomas Groomes and multiple Dothan Police Officers scrambled to the scene.
One of the first Dothan Police Officers on the scene was Corporal Blake McAllister. This officer carries an emergency medical bag with preliminary medical supplies. The reason I know that is after the patient was loaded I observed Cpl. McAllister place the bag back in his patrol vehicle.
When units arrived the child was responsive. Dothan Fire EMS, Pilcher EMS and Dothan Police took their time in the pre-hospital treatment for this child. Took their time in making sure all safety precautions were taken for this child.
Dothan Fire Paramedics rode into the hospital with Pilcher Ambulance. A trauma alert was called to Alabama Trauma Control System and Southeast Health.
Dothan Police is investigating the accident.
APPLAUDS to all of the emergency workers on the scene. Also to the Dothan Police Officers that scrambled to the scene to make sure this child was ok. It was shift change for some officers but this child came first.
In some 15 minutes from when the call hit the 911 Center the child was in the ambulance on the way to Southeast Health. Great time.
