HOUSTON COUNTY:     7:29 pm    Houston County Sheriff 911 dispatched Southern Junction Volunteer Fire, Rehobeth EMS, Houston County Sheriff Deputies and ALEA - Troopers to a critical motor vehicle accident on South State Highway 109.

The location is South State Highway 109 and Junction Road.

Emergency units are rolling to the scene.

SECOND ACCIDENT IN HOUSTON COUNTY COMMISSIONER RICKY HERRING DISTRICT.... BUT HE HAS NOT BEEN ON ANY SCENES....

This makes several accidents in D-3 Houston County Commissioner Ricky Herring's district. He is paid $ 200 or $ 250 a month to use his own car, but is furnished a vehicle by Houston County Sheriff Department. He has not responded to any of the accidents in his commission district. If he responded he might see what causes these accidents and get it repaired,

Herring draws a salary with Houston County Sheriff Department. As a Deputy he is an "at will" employee of the Sheriff. Which means the Sheriff can fire him for any reason, anytime.

Herring is the Sheriff representative to the Houston County Commission, but yet he is an at will employee of the Sheriff. Which means the Sheriff can fire him at any time.

Herring draws a salary as a Deputy. In addition, Herring draws $ 33,000 a year as a Commissioner plus a vehicle allowance to furnish his own vehicle in performance of his duties as a Commissioner.

But he drives his Sheriff issued vehicle as a Commissioner, even to Commission events like in Gulf Shores and Prattville. And he is on his second new vehicle as a Deputy since becoming a Houston County Commissioner. First a brand new Tahoe now a brand new Z71 four wheel drive Chevrolet truck.

Herring swore during the election he would not vote on issues that involved the Sheriff Department. That has proven to be a lie. He has and is the Sheriff representative to the Commission.

Herring was the second to the approval of the 2020 - 2021 which contained a pay raise of 1.5% for county employees. Herring received a 1.5% increase as a Deputy Sheriff and a 1.5% raise as a county commissioner. While all county employees got 1.5%, Herring, who proposes to be the honest commissioner and keep everyone honest, received a 3% raise that he second the vote on.

Any way, enough about the honesty and integrity or Ricky Herring or lack thereof, Units are enroute to the scene.
