DOTHAN: 7:46 PM HATS OFF to the Dothan Police Officer which was stationed at West Main and Montana Street during the National Peanut Festival Parade.
This officer yelled across the radio "shots fired" then seconds later "multiple people shot".
Tonight I received a phone call from a lady who was present and witnessed the officers actions. The lady said the officer was quick to react, immediately yelled clearing the area and telling people to take their children to safety, ASAP.
The officer also went to the victim and began CPR on the victim fighting to save the victim of the firearm assault.
The lady who called me said this female officer was reactive immediately to make sure everyone was safe and at the same time work to save a life.
Following the event the officer had blood all over her.
Realize, this happened so fast not enough time for the officer to get protective gloves and clothing, just react to clear people to safety and attempt to save the life.
At this time I do not know the officer's name. But the caller to me went out of thier way to contact me and tell me.
THANK YOU to the Dothan Police Officer for your immediate actions.
