DOTHAN:    7:52 PM    Dothan 911 dispatched Dothan Police - Dothan Fire - EMS to North Park Avenue and Montgomery Highway to a call that is referred to as a "man down".

"Man Down" includes persons laying on the ground that are reported to 911. That person could be drunk, could have a medical issue, could be alive. It is that someone passed and a person is laying on the ground in a strange place.

This was next to the gas station at Park and Montgomery Highway and/or in the parking lot. Some of the scene extended to the laundromat on North Park Avenue and Sioux Street.

Dothan Police Chief Steve Parrish responded to the scene. Dothan Police Field Services Captain Todd David responded to the hospital.

As explained by Dothan Police Chief Steve Parrish officers responded to the "man down" call at Montgomery Highway and North Park Avenue. As the male subject came to he began to attack the Dothan Police Officers. There was a black female with the male that was apparently involved in the altercation.

One Dothan Police Officer suffered a broken hand or broken arm. That officer drove himself to the hospital.

A second Dothan Police Officer suffered a broken leg. He was transported to the hospital by Dothan Fire Department and Pilcher Ambulance Service.

Dothan Police Chief Steve Parrish thanked Dothan Fire Department and the fireman on the scene. We are taking from Chief Parrish comments the Dothan Fireman jumped in and started helping the police officers from attack.

One officer on the scene had the officers gunbelt that he was putting in the trunk of his patrol vehicle.

AT THE TIME this incident was unfolding and I was receiving text messages and scene pictures I was at church. I do the sound system. And church was concluding at the pastor was giving the invitation.

Apparently there was a lot of police officers on the scene. The on duty patrol Lieutenant, as I was just leaving church called for the fourth squad to get officers in service. The day shift commander Sgt. Jason Weed was on the scene.

Chief Parrish said two people were in custody. Chief Parrish was obviously furious that two of the Dothan Police Officers were injured. Chief Parrish said there were going to make sure these two went to jail for a long time.

Anyone that knows Chief Parrish, brace yourself. He is about to show these thugs who the boss is. And thugs, it AIN'T YOU. And I support Dothan Police Chief to infinity and beyond in his cracking down on the criminal element and anyone that thinks they can hurt the law enforcement - fire - EMS- and the citizens and guests of this city and county.

This is Rickey Stokes Words - time to kick ass and take names. If all of these left wing idiots want to come and holler, it is time for all of us to stand up and force them the hell out of Dothan and Houston County, and lock arms in support of law enforcement - fire and EMS. This is not a time to sit on your buttocks and let a few zealous idiots try and start trouble. Time to Nip It!
