DOTHAN:     8:09 PM.   AT 7:22 PM. DOTHAN 911 dispatched Dothan Fire and Dothan Police to 342 South Saint Andrews Street to Vaughn Towers to a fire alarm - high occupancy.


This type of call requires a full response of adequate emergency units to handle the emergency shoule fire alarm be an actual structure fire. For this location Dothan Fire Engine 1 ( Central ), Dothan Fire Engine 4 ( Southside ), Dothan Fire Engine 5  ( Eastside ), Dothan Fire Truck 1 ( Central - Ladder truck ), Dothan Fire Batallion Chief, Dothan Police ( at least two ), and local EMS would more than likely have responded to this type of call.    


This call tonight there was no structure fire. But there was something that set the sprinkler system off. Dothan Fire was attempting to plug the alarm and stop the water flow.


My guess, never checked just my observation from listening to the volume of calls, Vaughn Towers will probably be the number 1 or close to number 1 place Dothan Fire is called to respond to.


Several years ago, I think in Tampa Florida, ( going from memory ), the number one place law enforcement responded to was Walmart. And the two Dothan Walmart main stores there a lot of calls. Because if you are going to get caught shoplifting probably Walmart has the largest apprehension rate of anywhere.


Earlier today I heard Dothan Police dispatched Walmart North where a man in a wheelchair was alleged to have been shoplifting. The call was “theft in progress”. I did not hear the outcome.


Forunately the calls are most often “threats only” but you would also be amazed at the volume of calls emergency services respond to which are suicide threats. This are multiple calls, daily.


LISTEN UP TO ANYONE WHO THREATENS SUICIDE...there is zero problems worth you taking your own life over. ZERO. The problems are normally temporary and not permenant problems. Seek someone to talk to. But committing suicide sentences your family, loved ones and friends to a lifetime of mental anguish in seeking answers of why and what they could have done to prevent a person from taking their life. 


DO NOT - DO NOT - DO NOT - ever go through with the act of taking your life.
