8:11 AM More Than 40 Dothan Police Officers Seen At Fair and DOuble Digit Sheriff Deputies Also

DOTHAN:    Last night at the National Peanut Festival I counted about 40 Dothan Police Officers, in uniform.


Dothan Police Chief Will Benny made 100% sure those grounds were protected after the firearm assault/murder Saturday just off the main parade route.


Then rumors flew about possible trouble was going to happen at the National Peanut Festival. Well, from the law enforcement standpoint, while you feel it is rumors, as Chief of Police, Will Benny had to prepare for quick and swift actions to be taken in order to maintain safety for the guests that went to the National Peanut Festival.


Houston County Sheriff Donald Valenza also joined Chief Benny and he assigned double digit Houston County Sheriff Deputies and a Captain to the National Peanut Festival.


I am very sure this extra manpower and the investigation into the firearm assault/murder hit both Chief Benny and Sheriff Valenza overtime budget's. But what could they do?


One thing I know for sure in both Dothan Police Chief Will Benny and Houston County Sheriff Donald Valenza. They both take their jobs serious, safety of the officers and public are there number one priority. They will take no chances in their jobs to protect people and apprehend those responsible.


Also understand, the role of the Chief of Police and Sheriff is to protect, serve, seek out those responsbile for the crime. The Chief of Police and Sheriff ARE NOT the prosecutor or Judge. 


To Dothan Commissioners and Houston County Commissioners, if I hear anyone of you being critical of the overtime spent to protect the public, rest 100% assured I will CALL YOU OUT.
