HOLMES COUNTY FLORIDA:    Last evening ( Saturday ) RSN received a phone call about a large event ongoing at Vortex Springs in Holmes County, Florida.


Unable to attend last evening at 5:56 AM this morning ( Sunday ) I arrived at Vortex Springs. There were literally hundreds of tents set up with people camping.


The security would not allow entrance and said the gates did not open until 10 AM.


RSN stopped at one gate on a side road. The security guard did not say much but told me that I needed to move on. Well Rickey Stokes being stubborn said wait, your authority is on the property and not on the roadway. The security guard called for the Sheriff Department. Well then, I was not leaving until they arrived which a number was already on the property.


About six Holmes County Sheriff Deputies walked up. All nice. I told them of the calls the night before and I was amazed at the number of tents. Found out about 13,000 was the estimated crowd from the night before.


The Holmes County Sheriff Deputies were nice. Told me that I could pull down the road. I was sitting in my truck, running, in the road on a side road. I told them not staying was just looking because it amazed me the number of people. 


I could have called Holmes County Sheriff John Tate to get information on what was happening. But if you know Sheriff John Tate, and this event ongoing since like Thursday, I knew that man had to be exhausted and I was not going to bother him. Because with that many people he was not about to allow it to get out of contol and was keeping a tight hand on the event. Sheriff Tate serves the people of Holmes County Florida well and law enforcement wise I knew he was tightly managing it.
