WIREGRASS - ALABAMA - GEORGIA AND FLORIDA:    Emergency Officials in Alabama, Georgia and Florida continue to monitor the developing hurricane.

This storm is rapidly changing. This morning it did not appear to be headed for the gulf coast area and then around noon it changed and could be a direct impact on the gulf coast.

Reports out of Bay County, supplies in the stores and bottled water is disappearing rapidly.

Tonight we spoke with the main contact point, Dothan-Houston County Emergency Management Director Chris Judah. He is in contact with the National Weather Service multiple times a day and in constant monitoring of the weather activity. Director Judah is also in contact with the local meteorologist.

There will be a updated briefing tomorrow around noon and Director Judah will know more information due to the rapid changes of the hurricane. At that time he will share the most accurate and updated information provided to him by the National Weather Service in Tallahassee Florida and local meteorologist.

The "official" spokesman and information for ALL OF DOTHAN AND HOUSTON COUNTY for the most accurate and up to date information is designed to come from the Dothan-Houston County Emergency Management Office. And Emergency Management then works in partnership with all agencies, being law enforcement, fire, EMS, utilities, ALEA, and service agencies such as Road and Bridge, 211, Red Cross, the hospitals, the faith based organizations, etc.

This organization and working partnership is designed to work throughout the entire 582 square miles of Houston County, which Dothan sits in Houston County and not Houston County in Dothan.

So all entities are "suppose" to work through Dothan-Houston County Emergency Management. That is the reason $ 5 million dollars was spent on the construction of the Emergency Operations Center on East Adams Street. And the taxpayers of Houston County pay over $ 110,000.00 a year rent to house Dothan-Houston County Emergency Management in that building.
