GENEVA COUNTY AL: 8:06 PM Geneva County 911 Central Dispatch rolled Slocomb Fire - EMS, and Hartford EMS to a structure fire.
The fire location was in the jurisdiction of the Geneva County Commission and not in the city limits of Slocomb or Hartford.
The fire location was 2078 South County Road 85, Slocomb. Because of the efforts of the City of Slocomb and City of Hartford the residents are afforded fire and EMS protection and they rolled. The fire and EMS protection was not because of the Genva County Commission Chairman or County Commissioners, except for D-1 Weston Spivey.
On the arrival of the fire units it was reported smoke and flames visible, and it was announced this was a working structure fire.
The Slocomb and Hartford fireman were quick on knock down of the fire.
Slocomb Fire Chief Kyle Hovey has undergone double hip replacement so he was unable to respond. However Chief Hovey managed the response and operation from the radio. Chief Hovey had additional personnel responding in order to make sure enough fireman on the scene, and at 84 degrees ( at 9:24 PM ) were kept accounted for and cooled down.
THANK YOU to the City of Slocomb elected and City of Hartford elected for making sure the residents who do not live in your city limits but live outside the city limits of Sloocmb and Hartford have fire and EMS coverage. Other than D-1 Geneva County Commissioner Weston Spivey, your Commission Chairman Toby Seay, D-2 Todd Brannon, D-3 Bart Wilks and D-4 Wade Fulford does not help. They only provide $ 1,000.00 per year for EMS coverage in the county, which is only $ 19.23 a aweek for diesel fuel almost $ 6.00 per gallon.
