OZARK:     3:39 PM   A female appeared at Ozark Police Department this afternoon attempting to get away from a male subject in a domestic dispute.

When the female appeared she was followed by a male subject. A Ozark Police Criminal Investigator noticed the male subject and as she approached the male subject took off in a high rate of speed.

The vehicle being pursued was a black Jeep which was traveling North on Merrick Avenue and Simmons Avenue headed towards Boykin.

The suspect vehicle then turned totowards Hull Street and pnto MLK towards Enterprise Road. The speeds were estimated at at least 60 MPH.

The suspect vehicle was passing in oncoming lanes of traffic and almost struck a Dale County Sheriff vehicle.

Dale County Sheriff Chief Deputy Mason Bynum was afraid the vehicle was going to make it to Highway 231 and at a high rate of speed attempt to cross the four lane highway. Chief Bynum gave instructions to the officers in the chase get into a position to pit the suspect and end the chase.

The suspect made a move to Martindale Plaza when one vehicle struck the suspect vehicle in a pit manuever and Chief Deputy Bynum completed the pit disabing the vehicle and taking the suspect into custody.

During the chase the suspect tossed a firearm from his vehicle.

Dale County Sheriff Department and Ozark Police will get into positions as quickly as possble to pit a vehicle to terminate the chase. Dale County Sheriff Department and Ozark Police understand the dangers involved in the chases, but sometimes situations demand the pursuit and apprehension of the suspect.

Today, Ozark Police and Dale County Sheriff Deputies saved a lady from a dangerous situation where he life could have been taken. And in the same situation, Dale County Sheriff Chief Deputy issued the instructions to terminat the chase by pitting the vehicle before someone got hurt.

WORD OF CAUTION TO THOSE MAKING THE DECISION TO RUN ... In Dale County you better make the decision to STOP. Because there is a black Ford F-150, when he see's you put people in danger as soon as he gets into a position your buttocks are off the road. He will not allow you to place people of Dale County and others in danger.

GREAT JOB to all involved for proteting this lady and for quick reactions in protecting the public.
