ASHFORD: 9:50 PM Tonight as I listened to the Sheriff Department radio I heard Investigators and School Resource Deputies buzzing.
Houston County School Superintendent notified me there was a robocall going out to the parents of Ashford ELEMENTARY School tonight. There was a social media post of which the investigation has revealed no credible threat at this time.
Houston County Sheriff Donald Valenza demands the Sheriff Department Investigators and School Resource Deputies investigate the threats immediately. A demand Houston County School Superintendent David Sewell supports and proud of Sheriff Valenza's demands.
Because Superintendent David Sewell wants to honest and open with the parent's, at the appropriate time the Sheriff Deputies in charge agree, he sends messages out. Sewell is careful to only send when appropriate with those investigating.
As a investigator you never want the hand tipped until the right time.
So the robocall was approved to be made.
Sheriff Valenza will have extra Deputies on duty as will Ashford Police Chief Quinton Vann to make sure all children and staff are safe in school tomorrow. Those extra deputies will be on hand at both Ashford Schools tomorrow.
There is already smack going on at Ashford High School with the allegations over the text message chats alleged to have been recorded from a teacher's phone. Now the robocall of the inappropriate FACEBOOK post at Ashford Elementary.
All three, Houston County School Superintendent David Sewell, Houston County Sheriff Donald Valenza, Ashford Police Chief Quinton Vann...all three or even one ever thought there was something credible would order the schools closed. They would never knowingly allow the schools to open on something they felt would place the children in danger.
All efforts possible, and you would be amazed of how much overtime money social media posts costs all law enforcement to investigate, is done to protect children and staff everywhere.
By the way... I am still working at 10 PM.
