DOTHAN: 9:59 PM Dothan 911 dispatched fire units to a location on the west side of town to reports of a structure fire on Concord Street.
Dothan Fire units arrived and report light smoke but advised units responding in to standby on "LEVEL 1 STAGING".
LEVEL 1 STAGING directive is for the incoming fire engines to stand by at fire hydrant ready to connect and fireman ready to exit the trucks to begin fire fighting if given the word this is now an active structure fire.
At LEVEL 1 STAGING the primary fire engine is attempting to find the source of the smoke and they have not seen any active fire at this time.
Based on certain guidelines relayed from the caller to the 911 Center the call taker is required to enter the call under certain guidelines. It is best to roll and there be no fire then not to roll and there be active fire. Emergency Responders should take the call as the real deal until someone is on the scene who can give an accurate report.
At 10:06 PM the primary engine is looking for any hot spots or source of smoke and there is no fire at this location. All fire engines can return to service.
