ABBEVILLE: ABBEVILLE Police Chief Eric Blakenship and members of the Henry County Drug Task Force make a traffic stop recovering a large amount of drugs.
Recently members of the Henry County Drug Task Force including myself conducted a traffic stop in Abbeville, as a result of the traffic stop nearly 2 pounds of Meth was taken off the streets. A lot of times that’s where the stop ends, however not this time. I have been very fortunate throughout my career to have built great friendships and relationships with not only local and state agencies but also federal ones to include the FBI and DEA just to name a few.
2 days ago I received a phone call from Doug Howard at the US Attorneys office thanking us for our assistance in this case. Now why is that important? This stop could have ended there, don’t get me wrong 2 pounds of meth off the streets is a lot of meth, but when agencies come together and work as one it can lead to so much more. Our stop was just 1 piece of the puzzle that lead to more arrests and more drugs off the streets of other neighborhoods and cities around our area.
Some may call this bragging and I guess they are right. I am bragging, I’m bragging on how it’s important for all of law enforcement to work together as 1. I’m bragging on the fact we got 2 pounds of meth off the street in Abbeville Al. I’m bragging that I have an awesome group of guys that I work with. I’m bragging that I have friends in all areas of law enforcement that I can trust to work with. I’m bragging that our case helped make bigger cases. I’m bragging that I love my job and I still enjoy working along side my guys. So yeah, I’m bragging!
