Across Alabama - Flooding Dangers

ACROSS ALABAMA:   A lot of flooding across the State of Alabama as rain continues danger of flooding rivers all across the State of Alabama.


Here are some updates across Alabama;


The Tallapoosa River at the Tallapoosa Water Plant will be in Moderate Flood Stage of 32 ft from around 12 pm Thursday until 8 am Saturday. At 32 ft, some residences along Lower Wetumpka Rd, Brooks Rd and Anderson Rd become threatened. At higher stages, evacuations may become necessary at Red Eagle Honor Farm.



Catoma Creek near Montgomery will be in Moderate Flood Stage of almost 26 feet between 9 am Thursday and 9 am Saturday. Several residences are threatened, and if the stage reaches 28 ft, portions of West Boulevard and US Highway 331 are flooded, as well as considerable homes in the vicinity of Old Selma Rd, Hayneville Rd, Grovewood Dr and Fleming Rd.

Pea River:
Ariton will be in Moderate Flood Stage between 9 am Thursday and 9 pm Saturday with a crest of 19.5 ft. The basement of a residence is flooded at this level.

Elba will be in Moderate Flood Stage between 9 pm Thursday and 9 pm Sunday with a crest of 41.8 ft. The record crest is 43.5 ft. Flooding of homes outside the levee near Elba will occur, water will cover a large portion of Hwy 87 north of Elba and the Seaboard Coast Railroad Bridge in Elba will become submerged. At 46 ft the water tops the levee and inundates Elba.

Choctawhatchee River:
The river near Newton will reach Moderate Flood Stage after 12 pm today, Major Flood Stage of 31.8 ft from 9 pm today through 9 pm Thursday and Moderate Flood Stage until 9 pm Friday. Flooding of stores and apartments around Hwy 92 near Clayhatchee will occur, flooding of a few homes along Wildwood Loop and both homes and farmland near Newton will occur.

The river near Geneva will be in Moderate Flood Stage from 9 pm Friday through at least 9 pm Sunday with a crest of 31 ft. About 30 homes outside the levee will flood as well as homes along East Westville Ave. Fowler Park will flood.

The Conecuh River at River Falls will be in Moderate Flood Stage beginning on 9 am Friday and lasting until at least 9 am Monday with a crest of 46 ft. Farmlands and rural roads, portions of US Hwy 84 and some residences will flood.

Murder Creek at Brewton will be in Moderate Flood Stage beginning this evening and lasting until 9 pm Friday, with Major Flood Stage and a crest of 32.6 ft from around midnight tonight through 9 am Friday. Severe flooding will occur in Brewton south of Court and East Streets as well as the Hwy 29 Bridge across Murder Creek and Hwy 31 Bridge across Burnt Corn Creek.

Big Escambia Creek at Flomaton will be in Moderate Flood Stage beginning this afternoon and lasting until 9 am Friday, with Major Flood Stage and crest of 24.6 ft between 9 pm tonight through 12 am Friday. This crest will be near the record of 25.9 ft. Residential flooding with some evacuations are likely.

The Styx River near Elsanor is in Major Flood Stage will continue through 9 pm Thursday. The crest is forecast at 27.2 ft, near the record of 28.6 ft. Major flooding will occur to houses and streets along the river in Seminole Landing.

The Fish River Near Silverhill is in Major Flood Stage through 9 am Thursday, then Moderate Flood Stage through 9 pm Thursday. The crest will be 22 ft near the record of 23.1 ft. Flooding will occur homes on the river side of McPhilips Rd and Sutherland Circle in the Fairhope Falls Subdivision, and on both Honey Rd and Keeny Rd.

Bayou Sara at Saraland will be in Major Flood Stage until 12 pm Thursday with a crest of 8.5 ft, then Moderate Flood Stage through 9 am Friday. Numerous homes in the area flood and evacuations will be necessary.
