THIS SITUATION IS SERIOUS

THE CALVARY IS "US"

#HOUSTONCOUNTYSTRONG - ALL 582 SQUARE MILES

Everyone, no matter who you are, religion, race, economic status, we are all in this together. And that is the way we will resolve this issue. United, as a team, working towards one solution.

The response has to be and is one of which is responding actively and aggressively. The front line team members respond without tools they would normally have in a disaster. Everyone is being forced to be creative, and honestly, I know we are creative, have the ability to think outside the box, willing to try and fail, but get up trying again.

There is a lot happening of which you do not see. Your leaders are meeting, discussing and implementing options for your benefit. Ideas never before thought about and shared are being implemented. We are adapting to manage the situation.

But everyone is in a constant battle with social media and the false information that is getting shared which creates fear. A lot you read and it gets shared, there is no truth to it. Make sure your information comes from the Alabama Department of Public Health, the Centers For Disease Control, Alabama Emergency Management or local emergency management, your local government - police/fire/EMS.

Just because someone posted it on social media does not mean it is true and correct. So make sure the information is accurate before you share it.

And "we" will prevail and overcome the challenge of COVID-19. We will overcome the economic obstacles before us. Because we are a community that can unite and become one.

We face challenges and one of those challenges is COMMUNICATIONS. All emergency service and essential public safety/service have to exist and operate in a unified command system, working as one team with one central focal point for information.

PUBLIC: No one is hiding information or withholding information from you. A lot of time is wasted on information that is total lies. That delays accurate information. But all of the entities are being open and honest. Each agency is asked to flow that information through the Joint Information Center of Dothan - Houston County Emergency Management Agency. The reason is to make sure the information provided is accurate.

The belief of Dothan - Houston County Emergency Management Agency and the leaders of the community is, if we lose your trust and confidence then we have lost the successful outcome of this pandemic. We have no intend to lose your trust and confidence and will provide you truthful answers to your questions.
